Why Still Life Is So Satisfying to Paint
A still life is the quiet side of painting: a bowl of fruit catching the morning sun, a steaming cup of coffee, a few old books stacked by a vase of flowers. Because nothing in the scene moves, every object has clean edges, clear light and a satisfying shape to fill. That makes still life paint by numbers one of the most relaxing ways to spend an afternoon, and the finished canvas suits a kitchen, dining room or reading corner better than almost any other theme.
This collection brings together our fruit, food, drink and cozy-home designs, from full-size kits to six-canvas mini sets. Every kit includes a numbered canvas, labeled acrylic paints with great coverage and brushes, so you can start the moment it arrives.
Still Life Paint by Numbers Designs, by Theme
Fruit and kitchen paint by numbers
Fruit is the classic still life subject: round shapes, glossy highlights and bold color. Golden Elixir pairs sliced lemons and mint with a glass of water, while From Earth to Table fills a basket with garden vegetables. Harvest on the Table is a rich harvest arrangement around a gleaming brass pot, and A Slice of Nostalgia sets a lattice pie on a stars-and-stripes tablecloth. For a smaller project, the Orchard Harvest and Sunny Kitchen Table mini sets turn apples, pears and jugs into six little canvases for the kitchen wall.
Coffee, tea and breakfast
Morning rituals make some of the coziest paintings. Coffee Corner and Latte Menu are made for coffee lovers, Boho Tea Time and Matcha Moments celebrate the teapot, and Brunch Club sets the whole table.
Cocktail and wine paint by numbers
Glassware is a favorite with experienced painters because the reflections are built from simple numbered shapes that suddenly look like real glass once filled in. Cocktail Hour mixes six colorful drinks, a fun piece for a home bar or a gift for a friend who loves to host. For wine lovers, Gifts of Earth brings together bread, cheese, grapes and red wine, and Ode to Wine and Time adds candlelight to a classic grape and wine arrangement.
Books, vases and cozy corners
Still life is not only about food. The Forgotten Pages is a moody arrangement of old books and candlelight, Essence of Life is a classic tabletop composition, Quiet Vessels focuses on simple ceramic shapes, and Cozy Nooks and Book Lover's Corner bring armchairs, shelves and reading lamps to life.
Seasonal tables
Change your art with the seasons: A Taste of Autumn and Cozy Fall are full of pumpkins, apples and warm colors, while Majolica Summer brings bright Mediterranean pottery and citrus.
How to Paint Glass, Fruit and Shiny Surfaces
- Paint dark to light. Fill the deepest shadows inside a bowl or glass first, then the midtones, and leave the small white highlights for last so they stay crisp.
- Trust the numbers on glass. Reflections look like random shapes up close. Paint each one exactly as numbered and the glass appears when you step back.
- Keep highlights clean. Rinse your brush and dry it before painting white and pale yellow areas, so they don't turn grey.
- Use the fine brush for stems and rims. Cup rims, fruit stems and table edges are thin lines; a light hand gives the sharpest result.
- Two thin coats beat one thick one. If a color looks patchy over a printed number, let it dry and add a second thin coat.
